The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is designed to build on an existing associate’s degree, either the Associate in Arts or the Associate in Science in Early Childhood Education and Management. The curriculum supports teacher candidate development of knowledge and skills required for effective teaching. As candidates progress through the courses, field experiences help them make connections between their coursework and professional teaching practice. The program’s final internship allows candidates to assume the role of full-time classroom teacher in order to demonstrate the master of skills and competencies necessary for effective teaching and learning. Field experiences and internship placements will be limited to schools within Polk County.

The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is a state-approved initial teacher preparation program, and graduates will satisfy the eligibility requirements for Florida Professional Educator Certification in Pre-kindergarten/Primary Education (age 3-grade 3), as well as requirements for the Florida Teacher Standards for ESOL Endorsement (K-12) and the Florida Reading Endorsement (K-12).
